REFRIGERANT R454C (OPTEON XL20) - REPLACEMENT R404A/R22

The refrigerant R454C (Opteon XL20) is a modern mixture developed primarily as a response to increasing environmental requirements - reducing greenhouse gas emissions and ozone depletion. The refrigerant is used in new systems or as a replacement for R404A or R22. It is most commonly found in systems developed for industrial and commercial applications with low to medium temperature characteristics. It will work well with refrigerators, condensing units, freezers, but also with heat pumps.

The refrigerant R454C is a mixture classified as slightly flammable (A2L), so it can be used safely in accordance with current legislation. The chemical composition of the product is 21.5% R32 and 78.5% R1234y. The properties and performance of the mixture are very similar, if not better, to those offered by older counterparts, which is a considerable advantage of R454C. The eco-friendliness of the coolant is confirmed by its very low GWP of just 146, while the ODP is zero. In addition, Opteon XL20 is non-toxic and suitable for mixing with POE oils.
