REFRIGERANT R448A - REPLACEMENT R404A/R507

R448A refrigerant is a product that can also be found under the trade name Solstice N40. It has been developed as a replacement for R404A and R507 refrigerants. The agent is distinguished by its very broad spectrum of applications. It is suitable for use in low-, medium- and high-temperature applications. The refrigerant R448A is a zeotropic mixture of the HFO/HFC type. Its chemical composition is a combination of up to five different agents and presents itself as follows: 26% R32; 26% R125; 21% R134A; 7% R1234ze; 20% R1234yf. As a replacement for R404A and R507, the coolant can be used in new, but also in existing installations. However, it is necessary to change the oil and components to adapt the unit to the new conditions.

A great advantage of the product is its very low GWP. The coefficient illustrates the effect of a coolant on the formation of the greenhouse effect - in this respect, R448A is one of the most earth-friendly agents of its type. This is why it is increasingly becoming the product of choice with increasing public awareness. This is especially true given its very favourable performance characteristics. The ASHARE safety class of the agent is A1. This means that it has not been recognised as toxic, flammable or explosive.
